The 'Mail-Wars' is heating up with numerous players entering cyberworld offering upto a gb of mail storage + added goodies.
The latest player is Walla.com (thatz http://www.walla.com).They offer free 1gb mail + some cool features(like mail_wallpaper). Small signup + fast service r added attractions.
Axentra Corp. is another company to throw its hat in the ring with free e-mail and file storage capabilities. The company has announced its new axentra.net service, which offers users 25MB of online file sharing, e-mail and Web page storage at no cost.
BTW, searching for "1gb mail" in google(I'm lucky mode) gives walla.com now. Gmail has lagged out.

Google stated, "Gmail is an experiment in a new kind of webmail, built on the idea that you should never have to delete mail and you should always be able to find the message..."... " we offer 1gb mail storage+search facility".

Lycos announced that it is upgrading its service in the UK to give consumers 1GB of e-mail storage. But unlike some rival services being developed, the Lycos service is not free
June: Yahoo answers 1GB mail space with 100MB mail box! ...
And, Hotmail is supposed to launch 250mb webmail with virus cleaning facility soon.
